You cannot play competitive karuta unless you memorize all 100 Hyakunin Isshu. Don't you think so?
With this ``Kaiji Hyakunin Isshu'', as long as you can read hiragana, you can immediately enjoy the world of competitive karuta!
All you need is a trial experience with simple rules until you can play a full-fledged game.
[Feature 1] You don't have to memorize 100 sheets.
In competitive karuta, players listen to the top phrase and take the torifuda with the bottom phrase written on it.
Therefore, you cannot get the tag unless you memorize all 100 songs.
However, with this "Kairaiji Hyakunin Isshu", the first (fixed character) of the above phrase is written on the tori card, so you can start playing right away.
[Feature 2] Easy to play in 15 minutes
A normal 25 vs 25 game takes over an hour and is very demanding.
Therefore, we reduced the number of cards used to 8 vs 8 and created rules that would make it easier to enjoy.
There is also a way to memorize the rules step by step, from levels 1 to 4.
[Feature 3] Exhilarating feeling of blowing away bills
It has a sturdy structure that is exactly the same as the Hyakunin Isshu that is actually used in official competitive karuta tournaments.
Therefore, you can blow away the bills as much as you like.
The exhilarating feeling of paying the bills with a snap is one of the best parts of competitive karuta.
〜Thoughts on creating the ``Hyakunin Isshu'' idioms〜
☞Hyakunin Isshu was born from the idea that “I want you to enjoy competitive karuta casually!”
[Thought 1] Overcoming the hurdle of “I can’t remember”
In the past, there were many people who gave up on competitive karuta even before they started, thinking, ``I can't remember even 100 karuta.''
``Even though you were interested in me...'' I was always filled with regret.
I thought about how to overcome this hurdle and came up with ``Kairaiji Hyakunin Isshu,'' which anyone who can read Hiragana can play right away.
[Feeling 2] I want to increase the number of "karuta clubs" that accept beginners.
``If you have memorized all 100 karuta, come back.'' These are the words that are said to many beginners who come to see the karuta club.
In terms of management, it is very difficult to instruct ``beginners who don't know how to sing'' and ``experienced people who remember songs'' at the same time.
We wondered if there was a way for beginners and experienced players to play together, and devised a design for ``Kairaiji Hyakunin Isshu''.
The original appearance of the bill remains the same, and the "fixed characters" are printed in red on the corners.
The design is friendly to both beginners who don't remember the songs and experienced people who do.
Therefore, beginners and experienced players can play together.
Please take advantage of this opportunity to welcome beginners to Karuta-kai.
