★Unearthed recordings of Bill Evans' solo, trio, and orchestra performances from his visit to Denmark from 1965 to 1969 have been released! With the exception of a few songs, most of the recorded songs have never been released before. A true discovery of the century, carefully selected from the private collection of Norwegian jazz musician Ole Matthiessen. Co-produced by Elemental Records' Jordi Soley, Carlos Augustin, and master excavator Zev Feldman. This is Zev Feldman's 10th official excavation release with the Bill Evans Estate. ★This work contains live performances from various places when visiting Denmark for concert tours in 1965, 1966, and 1969. CD-1 (M1-M3) was performed in October 1965 by local musician Niels Henning Ørsted Pedersen (b ) and touring member Alan Dawson (ds) from America. In November of the same year, the drummer was replaced by Alex Leal (ds) for a live show in Holbaek, Denmark (M4-M8). The songs included are all familiar numbers that Bill Evans liked to play. Fans will also be happy to hear that they will be performing “Waltz For Debby”, which they performed at the Village Vanguard four years ago. ★From M9, the trio of Bill Evans (p), Eddie Gomez (b), and Marty Morrell (ds) will be joined by the Royal Danish Orchestra and the Danish Radio Big Band conducted by trumpeter and arranger Palle Mikkelborg. A valuable sound source in collaboration with. “Waltz For Debby,” which begins with a heavy orchestral intro that sounds like movie music and begins with Evans’ piano in the middle, is the highlight. This “Waltz ForDebby” is recorded in the form of Reprise, this time with a different arrangement and composition, with the trio playing in the front and an orchestra in the background. This swingy version is also stunning. ★CD-2 (M1-M6) contains 6 piano solos from my visit to Copenhagen in November 1965. You can listen to a solo performance of “My Funny Valentine,” which is famous for his duo with Jim Hall. This is Evans' first solo piano performance of this song. ★From M7 is a trio recording of Eddie Gomez (b) and Alex Leal (ds) when they visited Copenhagen in 1966, and from M13 is a recording of Eddie Gomez (b) and Marty Morrell (ds) in 1969. )'s trio performed in the city of Aarhus. You can also listen to these trios perform famous songs such as ``Autumn Leaves'' and ``Star Shadow Stella.'' In particular, “Nardis”, which was recorded with a separate trio, is interesting to listen to and compare with the different drummers. ★The booklet includes a wealth of color photos, including unreleased photos by Jan Persson, who accompanied Evans on his Denmark tour. It also includes insightful liner notes by journalist and Evans scholar Mark Myers, who is also a noted author. Danish drummer Alex Leal, Danish music journalist and producer and Evans discographer Peter Larsen, Palle Mikkelborg, and Evans' longtime trio mates Eddie Gomez (b) and Marty Morrell (ds). , and interviews with pianists Ran Blake and Matthew Shipp. The Japanese version CD comes with a Japanese booklet (32 pages planned) that is a complete translation of the original booklet. Mastered by legendary mastering engineer Bernie Grundman from broadcast sound source master tapes that had been stored in excellent condition. The high-quality recording (original MONO recording sound source remastered in 24-bit stereo) is also noteworthy. ★Comes with a complete translation of the original English liner notes (translator: Tamashige Terai).
